Milan vs Verona, probable lineups
AC Milan search their fifth consecutive victory to get closer to Europe while in a state of injury emergency.
With the January transfer window now closed, the Rossoneri will try to extend their run of four consecutive wins. The second half of the season starts with AC Milan hosting Hellas Verona at San Siro.
At this point Stefano Pioli’s side is in the race for a spot in Europa League even though the 8 points difference with fourth-placed Roma offer hopes for something more. The first match between AC Milan and Verona ended 1-0 in favor of the Rossoneri thanks to a penalty kick transformed in goal by the departed Krzysztof Piatek.
For Milan vs Verona coach Stefano Pioli will make a couple of forced changes to his starting eleven. Once again the Italian coach will prefer Andrea Conti on the right over Calabria. Simon Kjaer was expected to partner with Romagnoli at the center of the defence but flu has kept him out of the match squad. Musacchio returns in the starting eleven despite not being at his best shape. Theo Hernandez completes the back four.
Ismael Bennacer is suspended for Milan vs Verona. Pioli tried Rade Krunic at the center alongside Franck Kessie during the week but he suffered an injury recently. Hakan Calhanoglu will cover in the role of central midfielder with Giacomo Bonaventura on the left and Samu Castillejo on the right.
Just like Kjaer, Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss today’s match because he’s struggling with the flu. It will be up to Ante Rebic to partner with Rafael Leão in attack. Pioli has called up Primavera striker Daniel Maldini to replace Ibra in Milan vs Verona. New arrival Alexis Saelemaekers is also available for this match.
AC MILAN (4-4-2): Donnarumma; Conti, Musacchio, Romagnoli, Theo Hernandez; Castillejo, Kessie, Calhanoglu, Bonaventura; Rebic, Leão.
